1. Why does Loretta try to save Max? What does this tell us about her? How does she finally save Max?
2. Why is the scene with Kevin and the squirt gun funny? Does Kevin recognize the humor? Does Max?
3. Why are Kevin and Max such good friends? Do you think they are very different? How?
Kevin and Max are good friends because both of them know that the other is different just like him. They both know that the other is picked on to and they know how it feels. They also live next to each other and if you live by someone your age, you turn out to be great friends. Max also doesn't know a lot and Kevin is Max's brain. Together they are unstoppable. For example, when Blade was chasing them. They know they are the perfect team. They make each other happy too. With out the other they were lost and didn't have anyone outside their family who loved them or talked to them. I think they are very different because Max is a giant. He has strenght and height. Freak is a short brainy kid. They fofill the others empty spots. They make a great team because they are different.
ReplyDeleteLoretta tries to save Max because she doesn't want him to die. She doesn't want Killer Kane to have another victim. This tells us that Loretta some what likes Max. She actually has feelings for Max. It didn't seem like she did before but now she does. She finally saves Max by having Max let go of Loretta and grab him. Then Kevin come in and saves the day. Kevin saves the day by bring a squirt gun and Killer Kane thinks it's a real gun.

ReplyDeleteWhen Kevin has the squirt gun pointed at Killer Kane is funny. Kevin told Kenneth that it was filled with chemicals even though it wasn't. It was water, Page 131. Kevin gets the humor because he did it. Max gets the humor but won't laugh because Kane is chasing them. Page 132. I would be really scared at first, but would laugh when I got away from Killer Kane. I thought this part was funny and I can't believe Killer Kane couldn't tell that it was just water. If it hit my eyes I would be able to tell. Kevin is a brave little boy. Max and Kevin are unstoppable to anyone. They beat Killer Kane they can beat anyone.

DeleteShe tries to save max beacuse she is a good person. She really like max. I mean who wouldn't. He is a real nice kid once you get know him. what do you guys think abut him. i LIke him he is nice i think he should be nicer to people. they take one look and they don't like him. they are no nice.
ReplyDeleteThe scene with the spirt gun is funny because he brings a squirt gun to save Max. I think it is funny how Killer Kane doesn't believe that the squirt gun is filled with chemicals. Then he squirts him in the eyes and they Kevin and Max get away. No I don't think that Kevin recognizes the humor. He should recognize it but he doesn't. I wouldn't have believed him either if I was Killer Kane. No I don't think that Max recognizes the humor either. Max just wanted to get away so he doesn't care if it's funny or not he just wants to get away.
ReplyDeleteI think that Loretta tried to save Max because she cared for him. I think she tried to save him because she had feeling for him. Feelings that she hasn't showed us in the book quite yet. This is my prediction. Does any body agree with me. The book doesn't tell us much about Loretta. But thing that I think that it tells us that she is kinda a weirdo. Thats what I think.
ReplyDeleteThe scene when Kevin points the squirt gun at Killer Kane is very funny. It is funny because Kevin tells Killer Kane that it's filled with all these harmful chemicals. The funniest part of the whole things is Killer Kane falls for it.
ReplyDeleteKevin does sorta recognize the humor of it all. He sorta doesn't because he's so smart and he doesn't understand how someone can fall for it.
Yes, Max recognizes the humor but doesn't have time to laugh about it since he has so much to worry about. I probably wouldn't think that it's funny at the moment. I would think that it's funny later on though.
Kevin and Max are good friends because they both don't fit in. Neither of them have friends other than eachother. I feel bad for them both because they both are normal on the inside, but don't have the most common bodies. I think they are very different because they have very different interest. Kevin likes to read books and do experiments. Max doesn't really care what they do as long as he doesn't have to learn stuff. Somehow they fit together though. I think it is weird how the smartest and dumbest people can be best friends.

He told him that it was very dangerous chemicals, when it was only water and vinegar. If I was Killer Kane I would of probably fell for it too. I don't think that Max or Kevin realized the humor in it. They were caught up with trying to save their lives. I would of probably done the same thing they did. I would want to run not laugh.
ReplyDeleteMax and Kevin are such good friends because they understand how each other feel. They also are friends because when they're together they feel complete. They feel complete because they're tall and smart. When they are apart they both feel incomplete. They are also good friends because they both stick up for each other. I would be friends with both of them.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they are very different. If they are different in any way it's because Max is tall and sort of dumb, and Kevin is short and sort of dumb.
I am responding to bm1119. I agree that Max and Kevin are good friends because they don't fit in. bm1119 is right that both of them are normal on the inside but not on the out. I also think they are different, but I think they do have the same interest in a certain way. I also think that Max would like to learn stuff but he thinks that he has to live in his fathers foot steps. Kevin is his own person that will do what he wants to. I don't think it's weird that they are friends because they work great together. They fill the empty spots in the other. Max and Kevin will be friends forever!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you bm1119 that they're both different. You're right that they don't have any other friend than each other. I agree that they are normal on the inside, but they aren't normal on the outside. You're right that they have different interest. That doesn't make them that different from each other. It is kind of weird that the smartest and the dumbest are best friends, but you have to believe it because it is true. Kevin does like to read and do experiments but that doesn't make him that different from Max. Kevin is trying to get Max to like reading and doing experiments. Max is trying but he still doesn't like it that much.
ReplyDeleteI'm responding to gk1221. I totally agree with you. Loretta probably saved Max's life because she sorta cared about him. I also think that she felt sorry for him that Killer Kane was going to kidnap him. I also think that the book portrays her as a weirdo at first so then we feel that she is really nice. I really think she is a kind and compassionate person. I also think she just hangs out with the wrong crowd. I hope she turns her life around.
ReplyDeleteI am responding to ck0220. I agree with your opinion on why Loretta saves Max. She does it because she actually kind of likes Max. Or at least she feels bad for him. Who would want to be known as Killer Kane's kid? I no that I wouldn't. I'm glad that Loretta tried to save Max and then Kevin did because I didn't want Killer Kane to have another vitcim. Then he might go on a killing spree and kill everyone. He almost killed two people, which is bad. At least he never finished the job on killing them thought.
ReplyDeleteIm responding to nk0822. I to agree with nk0822 on how they can feel each others pain. They do this by them both having to go through tuff times. Me and nk0822 think a like because I do think that Kevin and Max comeplete each other. Kevin and Max are the two pieces to a puzzle it can't be built without them. Same for if there not together, they're not comeplete. They both are true friends because the stickup for each other. But I didn't agree with him and how he think he is "sort of dumb" I think that Max is smart but not a genusis.

ReplyDeleteI think that Max and Kevin are such good friends because they know what each other. No one knows them two more then each other. They both have bad things about them self. But over all I think they are the same inside. But their apperences is a different story. Kevin is a genus and short. Max is tall but not the smartest. But Max has good ideas but he doesn't share them in the right way.
ReplyDeleteI am Responding to ck0220. I think the reason loretta tried to save him because she is like his proteter. She is not a bad person. She is just stuck in a bad spot. I think that Max should be like hailed because he was the one who saved her. Then Little man came and shot doc and he like melted. It was just so crazy. Then the cops came and saved them. It was a crazy day.
